Despite many of us who have lost faith in the military men, Filipino soldiers still continue with their gallant and grit to defend our beloved country against those who dare to establish a reign of terror.
Filipino soldiers have always been underrated when we talk about our history. From the Philippine Revolution to the Second World War to the EDSA People Power Revolution, we often forget to mention and commend these brave men and women; instead, we praise just a few notable people who lead the revolts, completely failing to recall that there were hundreds or thousands of patriots behind these heroic deeds.
Recently, a post by Facebook page Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa Supporters drew mixed reactions from the netizens. In the photo, two soldiers are seen sharing a small portion of a corned beef viand on a single plate.
While most online users expressed their sadness over the condition of Filipino soldiers in general, there are those who also questioned the lifestyle of higher-ups and government officials who get to live a lavish life. Others praised these brave men for enduring hardships as a soldier in order to defend peace and security of the homeland. Check out the comments below.

Meanwhile, Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año assured that the Maute terrorist group is already close to its end during his visit to Zamboanga City.
On Sunday, August 13, Año commended wounded soldiers who bravely fought against the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), the Maute Group, and the New People’s Army (NPA) during a program in Zamboanga City.
“The Filipino people and the AFP are proud of you. Get well soon, brave soldiers,” Año said.
The soldiers received their wounds during separate encounters with the Abu Sayyaf rebels in Basilan, Maute group in Marawi City, and communist terrorists in Zamboanga del Norte. Several personnel were also recognized during the awarding ceremony which was held at the Camp Navarro General Hospital in Bagong Calarian, Zamboanga City at around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Año, during his speech, said that Maute extremist group is close to its end as there have been over 560 terrorists slain on the battle grounds.
“We are seeing the end of the Marawi armed conflict with more than 560 terrorists slain in the battle area. We see this as an opportunity to end terrorism and bring the defeat of threat groups in Basilan, Sulu, Marawi, and Maguindanao,” he said.
“These are times when we really feel the support of our countrymen, which is very rewarding for us, soldiers,” he added.
