Malacanang wants to hire 5000 followers to cover Duterte’s event


A new project of the Malacañang for their social media is to hire 5,000 followers to cover all activities, events and programs of President Duterte. This was issued by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar. One of the requirements of the applicants is they must be a Filipino citizen and at least 18 years old and above.

Andanar said in an interview, “The purpose of this order is to provide an interim system of accreditation for social media participation to cover special events attended by the President, in order to generate news and information for the citizenry through social media platforms. And there will be no discrimination and one’s political belief is not the measurement of access.”

Andanar appointed Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson to handle the applications which will be FREE and VOLUNTARY.


“The SMO shall conduct a test run of this policy for a period of six months upon effectivity of this order, subject to review and/or revision at the end of this period,” he added.

Andanar also pointed out that, “Accreditation is nontransferable and cannot be sold. Individuals with accreditation must nesure that their accreditation’s are not used by others.”

This will be a way to develop an “engaging, creative, innovative content” for the scheduled posts of activities of the President. Thus, creates and promote a legitimate messages and posts that are reviewed and have the clearance of the Presidential Security Group.
